Created to support borough-level sustainability strategy across London
Overview
This project supported the Greater London Authority in developing a clearer and more scalable way to assess sustainability technologies across London boroughs. The work formed part of the GLA’s wider mission to help guide implementation strategy, bringing together multiple data points and decision criteria into a more structured and accessible system.
The Challenge
The challenge was to communicate a large volume of technical and strategic information across multiple borough groupings, including north, north east and south London. The material needed to support accurate assessment and implementation planning, while also being repeatable and consistent across a broad set of outputs. Without a stronger system, the process risked becoming too manual, fragmented and difficult to compare at scale.
The Approach
I developed an automated visual system that could generate consistent outputs across the different borough groupings, helping turn complex sustainability data into a clearer and more usable strategic tool. The system was designed to communicate different technology options and key metrics in a format that supported easier review, comparison and implementation planning.
Alongside the design work, the project also included workshops to help map out the key areas of data and define how the information should be structured. This ensured the final system responded not just to visual needs, but to the strategic and operational logic behind the wider programme.
The Outcome
The result was a more scalable and coherent communication system for borough-level sustainability planning. By combining workshops, structured information design and automation, the project improved consistency, reduced manual effort and created a stronger framework for analysing technology options and supporting implementation strategy across London.
