Overview

Created for the Huawei Theme Design Awards 2020, Amidst the Breeze was a mobile theme concept designed to bring more atmosphere and personality to the everyday digital interface. The project combined an animated wallpaper background with custom icon design to create a more cohesive and visually engaging mobile experience.

Creative Response

I developed the theme as a calm, motion-led digital environment that extended beyond a single background image. The animated wallpaper introduced a sense of movement and mood, while the icon design was shaped to sit naturally within the same visual language, giving the interface a more unified and distinctive character.

The aim was to create a theme that felt expressive without losing usability, balancing illustration, motion and interface clarity so the overall experience remained both functional and immersive.

The Outcome

The result was a cohesive mobile theme that showed how digital surfaces can feel more considered, atmospheric and ownable through custom visual design. By combining animation with interface elements, the project created a stronger sense of identity across the user experience.
